Hang your work effectively
When it comes to showing your work – whether you’re at a trade-show or organising your paintings for your very first exhibition – the crucial factor is the presentation; that may sound like the most obvious statement ever written, but clearly it isn’t obvious enough: every single year, artists and business-people exhibit at shows and galleries in a way which doesn’t generate profit. And there’s a reason for this. It’s the gaping chasm of difference between artists who sell well and those who wind up going bankrupt…
Here are a few hints and tips which will genuinely help you get a handle on presenting your work. Follow these and you’ll be well on your way to not blending in with the masses.
Allow plenty of space around the images and remember, if you are having projectors, make sure you don’t have too many flashing and distracting images!

First up, don’t make the mistake of crowding what is an otherwise decent space. Put up too many paintings or have too many panels on the walls and people will feel bewildered about where to begin. The whole theme will quickly become confused and potential customers will walk away, feeling cheated. The key is in being sparse. Allow plenty of space around the images and remember, if you are having projectors, make sure you don’t have too many flashing and distracting images!

It doesn’t matter what you are selling – shredding services , gardening equipment or your document storage business – you need to make sure the images don’t contrast too heavily. The important thing to remember is to have a central theme. And be sure to have information written down which people can pick up, so that they can walk around in the comfort of knowing that all questions are answered just by looking at the brochure in their hands.

Lastly, consider additional style. You may be presenting a business product or paintings that speak for themselves, but you may need to dress the space up so that it looks better; this will also make your stand look exceptional, rather than just average. That could make all the difference where new customers are concerned!

How about becoming part of the exhibition yourself? Do this by wearing a T-shirt printed with one of your designs. On the back you could even have a slogan to catch peoples eyes and create some drama. Add a few people doing this into the mix, allow them to walk around and your stand has legs which will allow it to be seen by even more people!
